In The Name Of JESUS

Greetings in the precious name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ! We trust that this note finds you well by His grace.

During vacation season, many neglect their spiritual responsibilities even though there is no vacation from being a Christian. Some, however, do not regard this and will skip assembly, neglect Bible study, and forget to pray while on vacation. What if Jesus took vacations the way we do? These things below are what would happen.

1) Sins would not be forgiven. Christ appears in the presence of God for us (Heb. 9:24). When we decide to obey the gospel, His intercessory work causes our sins to be taken away, since He is our great High Priest (Heb. 8:1-6). What if He decided to take a break from forgiving sins? After all, He works hard all the time, and doesn’t He deserve a vacation like you and I do? That’s all well and good until we might happen to convince somebody to obey the gospel. Those sins would have to wait, unforgiven, until Jesus got back to work. If that individual died, they would lose their soul, for their sins would still be on them. Yet, when we fail to teach others, the result is the same—sins are not forgiven.

2) Prayers would not be answered. Christ has given us the privilege of coming boldly to the throne of grace to make our requests (Heb. 4:16). We can obtain mercy and grace because He is there. However, what He decided to stop answering prayers for a while? Our prayers for the sick would go unanswered (Jas. 5:15). When we, as Christians, confessed our sins, those requests would not reach the Father, and we could potentially die in our sins (1 Jn. 1:9-2:2). We would have to keep on being anxious because our prayers would have no guarantee of delivery, and the peace of God might never come! (Phil. 4:6-7). See what would happen if Jesus forgot about us and went on vacation? Yet, failing to pray has the same result, for He cannot answer an unprayed prayer.
