Here are some techniques that you can follow to score high marks in Anna University of Technology semester exams. These tips are applicable for 4th semester Civil Engineering Students who are doing 2nd year at present.
Soil Mechanics: Questions in the question papers are always taken from Punmia. Buy a ”Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering” Book written by Punmia. You can also use this book during your 5th semester for foundation Engineering Subject. Work out all the problems. New marks Influence Chart, Westerguards Method and Equivalent Point load method are some important derivations in the Final Unit. Go to your college library and be first to take the book ” Arora” because, Problems will also be asked from arora in case of tough questions. During Nov/Dec Anna University Exam, Questions were taken from arora. It is rare but be prepared to face anything. questions may be in either inproblematic or theoretical.
Strength Of Materials: Buy a “Strength of Materials” R.K RAJPUT book and work out all the problems. Questions will be always from R.K.Rajput and it is 99% assured. Mostly Rectangular column Design will be asked from 3rd Chapter. Use R.K.Bansal for reference.
Applied Hydraulic Engineering: This is very easiest chapter in 4th semester. Use “Fluid Mechanics” R.K.Bansal. Work out all the problems given there. Read the book from top to bottom because most 2 mark questions will be in twisted form and from the book inside. Have a revision on “points to Remember” to grab highest Grade. Local author Books are also available which you can use them as reference. Give some work to your Library Card atleast this Semester.
Highway Engineering: Use can either Local author or standard author for this subject. This is just a theoretical subject and most probably they will ask problems from “Over taking sight distance”. Refer Old question Papers and have an idea.
Surveying II: Use local author or Punmia to grab Good Marks. Problems are very simple and interesting. Have a look on both.
Numerical Methods: Buy any text Book of any author that you prefer. This subject is crazy yet amazing.
What Else?Good grade depends on your way of learning. spend atleast 40mins a day for book. You will be the king.
